SEMINAR: OCTOBER 16, 2026

Space is no longer solely a field of exploration and competition between major powers. It has become a rapidly expanding economic sector, playing an increasingly strategic role in technological autonomy, industrial competitiveness and the development of new markets. In this evolving landscape, Italy holds a prominent position thanks to its comprehensive space industry supply chain and its role as the third-largest contributor to the European Space Agency (ESA).

The seminar, entitled “Opportunities for Italy in the Space Economy”, held by Silvia Ciccarelli – Head of Industrial Internationalisation and National System Missions – Italian Space Agency (ASI), will explore the dynamics of the global space sector, Italy’s position within the international space community and the country’s national space governance framework.

The discussion will also address the prospects of the New Space Economy, emerging business models and growth opportunities for the Italian space industry within the European and international context.

Particular attention will be given to the role of engineering and technological innovation as key drivers of industrial competitiveness and the strategic autonomy of Italy and Europe.
