EVENT: MAY 10TH, 2023

Metal powders are raw materials for what is known as powder metallurgy, which involves well-known processes, such as 3D printing, and other technologies, like Hot isostatic pressing (HIP) or Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) used to create “near net shape” semi-finished products and reducing subtractive productions.

The powders used for these processes require specific features in terms of physics, chemistry, and geometry. Meaning, manufacturing processes must be well-balanced and defined. Gas atomization is the most used manufacturing process to create a product of quality and this technology continuously evolves to meet more and more strict market requests. These topics will be covered during the event entitled “Powders: the basics of additive manufacturing and near net shape” by Andrea Tarabiono, engineer of Mimete.

When: May 10th, 2023
Time: 4.30 pm
Where: Sala Consiglio – Building B23, first floor – Department of Mechanical Engineering – via La Masa,1
